Lake Rosseau Muskoka

Lake Rosseau, Muskoka - copyright Gabriele Wills

OK, so I'm pining for summer, especially lakeside. This is one of my favourite Muskoka views, taken from the J.W. Marriott Resort on Lake Rosseau. Among these islands is the one that so impressed me as a teenager that it inspired my Muskoka Novels.

Interestingly, this is what it probably looked like 101 years ago during The Summer Before the Storm, as 19th century cottages still grace these rugged shores - among the many new luxury summer homes that carry on the tradition.

  1. Is J.W. Marriott Resort the inspiration or perhaps once the actual location for which "The Grand" Muskoka hotel is based on in The Muskoka novels? Do you have a map of the lake, islands and land from present day in which to compare to the map you have drawn in "Summer Before the Storm"? I truly love the entire series having grown up in muskoka. I must say my curiosity about the history, locations and what im picturing while reading your books has me searching to see if what inspired you is indeed the very likely spot I'm picturing having spent so much time on the lake (surely covering every inch) and has me wanting to visit the areas of true history and tour amongst the lake. The novels are truly transporting and leave me deep with intrigue even for the 3rd or 4th time reading them all. :)
